Well, here I am in Austin, Texas. I’ve been evacuated since Thursday morning/afternoon, and I likely won’t actually get to head home until Sunday afternoon/evening. Before I get into more details on that, here’s what I know:
- My apartment looks fine from the outside. A friend of mine checked around my apartment complex, and things look okay.
- The city of Webster, which is basically a hop, skip and a jump away from my apartment, reports that the city has no power.
- The waste treatment facility for Nassau Bay was underwater yesterday, so their sewer system is down, and they have downed power lines in the area.
- Work (Lockheed Martin and Johnson Space Center) is closed at least through Wednesday.
So, as I’ve mentioned, I’m not heading back until Sunday… Because I’m headed to Florida for a wedding planning session! That’s the silver lining on my cloud ^_^ Of course, all my swatches and pictures are back in Houston… /sigh
